Tour overview

The short, unforgettable dash across Morocco. In three days you cross the High Atlas by the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass, walk the earthen kasbah of AĆÆt Ben Haddou, wind through the Dades and Todra gorges, and ride camels into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi for a night beneath the stars — before descending into the medieval heart of Fes.

It’s a lot of ground, but never rushed: you travel privately with your own driver-guide, stopping wherever the light or the mood takes you. Perfect if your time is short but your appetite for Morocco isn’t.

Complete itinerary

Leave Marrakech early and climb the Tizi n’Tichka pass through Berber villages and switchbacks. Explore the UNESCO kasbah of AĆÆt Ben Haddou with a local guide, pass through Ouarzazate’s film studios, then follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley. Overnight: Dades.

Wind up the famous Dades hairpins, then walk beneath the 300-metre cliffs of Todra Gorge. Continue east across the hammada to Merzouga, where you trade the vehicle for camels and ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Dinner and drumming at a luxury desert camp. Overnight: Desert camp.

Wake for sunrise over the dunes, then drive north through the palm-filled Ziz Valley, over the Middle Atlas cedar forests past Ifrane and its Barbary macaques, arriving in Fes by evening. Overnight: Fes.

Three days that felt like ten — in the best way. The desert camp was magical and our driver was brilliant company the whole way.
