Morocco’s north in three unhurried days. From Fes you visit the Roman mosaics of Volubilis and the imperial gates of Meknes, climb into the Rif Mountains for two nights in blue-washed Chefchaouen, then descend through whitewashed Tetouan to the Mediterranean at Tangier.

Leave Fes for the Roman city of Volubilis and its remarkable floor mosaics, then the holy town of Moulay Idriss and the vast gates of imperial Meknes. Climb north into the Rif to Chefchaouen. Overnight: Chefchaouen.
A full day in the blue lanes — the medina, Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the kasbah, and a gentle walk up to the Spanish Mosque for sunset over the rooftops. Overnight: Chefchaouen.
Through whitewashed Tetouan and its UNESCO medina, then along the Mediterranean coast to Tangier — the kasbah, Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules if time allows.
