Cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass into the south. Explore Aït Ben Haddou’s earthen towers, then continue to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. Overnight: Ouarzazate.
Follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Valley of Roses to the Dades hairpins, then on to the soaring cliffs of Todra Gorge. Overnight: Todra.
East to the great dunes of Erg Chebbi. Ride camels into the sand for sunset, then dinner and Berber drumming at a luxury desert camp. Overnight: Desert camp.
Sunrise over the dunes, then north through the Ziz palm oases and Middle Atlas cedar forests to Fes. Overnight: Fes.
A full day in Fes el-Bali with a local expert — the Chouara tanneries, madrasas, artisan workshops and the world’s oldest university. Overnight: Fes.
Visit the Roman mosaics of Volubilis and the imperial gates of Meknes, then continue to the capital, Rabat. Overnight: Rabat.
Explore the Kasbah of the Udayas and Hassan Tower, then drive down the coast to Casablanca and the immense Hassan II Mosque. Overnight: Casablanca.
