A neat northern loop that begins and ends in Tangier — ideal if you’re arriving by ferry or cruise, or flying in and out of the same airport. You climb into the Rif to the blue town of Chefchaouen, continue past Roman Volubilis and imperial Meknes to Fes for a full guided medina day, then return north through the mountains.

Collect from your hotel, ferry port or the airport. South through whitewashed Tetouan and its UNESCO medina, then up into the Rif Mountains to blue Chefchaouen. Overnight: Chefchaouen.
A morning in the blue lanes, then south to the Roman mosaics of Volubilis, holy Moulay Idriss and the monumental gates of Meknes, arriving in Fes for the evening. Overnight: Fes.
A full day exploring Fes el-Bali with a local expert — the Chouara tanneries, the Bou Inania madrasa, artisan workshops and the world’s oldest university. Overnight: Fes.
A scenic drive north through the Rif and the Loukkos valley back to Tangier, with a stop for lunch and views along the way. Drop-off at your hotel, the port or the airport.
